Obviously the Republicans have a very short term memory for their own actions, both on the state and national level. Had we not given away the store when the times were good there would be the resources to carry us through these times. But by reducing taxes even when times were good the inevitable result would be a way to force the reduction of social programs when they are most needed. Reagonomics at its very best. If you can't kill something outright, starve it to death.

There are legislators in this state who would love to see public education go belly up. They just don't have the guts to admit it. So instead they hope to cause death by a thousand cuts. I believe this is more important to them than their stated goals of lowered taxes.
