Influence

I've always loved the illustration of William Joyce, known for such children's books as "George Shrinks" and "Santa Calls." His style is slightly nostalgic and reminiscent of an earlier era. It's interesting to compare his work with this 1930s or 40s children's coloring book illustration signed by "The Baileys."

That's Joyce on the left and the Baileys on the right. I haven't been able to uncover anything about The Baileys. The copyright page was missing from the well-used coloring book. But Joyce seemed to be somewhat influenced by their style, or at least by their era's style. It's fun to look at the similarities.

I ripped off the coloring book cover for our poster below. My apologies to the Baileys, whoever they were.
